The Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Joystick, though expensive, certainly has received a lot of attention. With its HallEffect AccuRate Technology and realistic AFTERBURNER tech, one hopes that it proves its worth amongst gaming peripherals. With this latest technology,it is one step closer to not ‘just a game’but very close to reality.
Do you like flight simulators? Scratch that–do you really, really like flight simulators? If you live and breathe Microsoft Flight Simulator and Tom Clancy H.A.W.X.,Thrustmaster wants to be your friend. The accessory company has designed a new PC joystick for the hardest of the hardcore. The 14 pound Thrustmaster HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick) Warthog actually replicates the real flight stick of the U.S. Air Force A-10C attack aircraft.
The Warthog’s joystick is brimming with action buttons (19 of ‘em) with true-to-life pressure sensitivity. The dual throttle system, which can be used to control two digital motors simultaneously, packs another 17 buttons. The included software suite offers three levels of programming for customizing all sorts of control configurations–probably a necessity for anyone learning to use the Warthog for the first time.
Then again, with a $499.99 price tag,the target audience for this stick probably has a pretty good idea of how to handle it. Professional gamers who know their stuff certainly won’t hesitate.
